KBO League Kiwoom Heroes Kim Hye-sung (25) is set to play in the Major League Baseball (MLB) dramatically. He signed a contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers, where defending champion and superstar Shohei Ohtani plays, about three hours before the end of the posting.

An official from CAA, Kim Hye-sung's agency, said on the 4th (Korea Standard Time) that Kim Hye-sung agreed with the Dodgers for up to $22 million (about 32.4 billion won) for 3+2 years.

The guarantee contract is a three-year total of $12.5 million (about 18.4 billion won) and includes an option to extend the two-year contract thereafter.

However, it is known that the right to reject the minor league was omitted from the contract.

CAA explained, "The Los Angeles Angels offered $28 million for five years, and the Seattle Mariners, Chicago Cubs, and San Diego Padres also offered it, but Kim Hye-sung chose the Dodgers."

Kim Hye-sung joined the Nexen (currently Kiwoom) Heroes in 2017 and played in 953 games in eight seasons, with a batting average of 0.304, 1,43 hits, 37 homers and 211 steals.

In the 2024 season, he hit .326 with 11 home runs, 75 RBIs and 30 steals.

Kim Hye-sung was allowed to challenge the big league through posting by Kiwoom club ahead of the start of last season, and signed with CAA, the agent of Shohei Ohtani (Los Angeles Dodgers) during the season.

Kim Hye-sung is the ninth player from the KBO League to sign a contract with an MLB club through posting.

When it comes to fielders, Kim Hye-sung is the fifth since Kang Jung-ho (2014; Pittsburgh Pirates), Park Byung-ho (2015; Minnesota Twins), Kim Ha-sung (2020, San Diego Padres), and Lee Jung-hoo (2023, San Francisco Giants), all of whom are former Heroes.

Kim Hye-sung plans to move to the U.S. soon to undergo a physical examination and finalize the contract.
